Meet Dr. Lovees Ahfembombi, Gender Based Violence Activist, Consultant, and Expert




Mr. Lovees is a Gender expert trained at the University of Buea where he obtained his first degree in 2013. The same year his spirit of activism against Gender-Based Violence was born as well. 


In 2017, he obtained a Master's degree from the University of Bamenda. One year later in 2018, he got a Diploma from the Wult Institute of Business and Technology Germany. 


After 2years, Mr. Lovees got a UN-Women Career Institute certification on GBV, and in 2022, Mr Lovees became a Doctor by obtaining a P.h.D from the University of Bamenda. Presently, Dr Lovees works as Program Manager for The Rural Women Center for Education and Development (RuWCED-Cameroon), also he is a Gender and Environment consultant. 


Since 2013 when Dr. Lovees' activist spirit was born, he has been able to organize advocacy campaigns for the rights of women and girls, Build trust in women, and engage men as partners in the fight against GBV. 


Dr. Lovees has been able to create women's support groups that are giving women solidarity, building capacity, creating opportunities, giving women access to basic livelihood facilities and services and also empowering women to support one another. 




Dr. Lovees has been able to organize and bring together stakeholders both local and administrative authorities to inform them of the consequences of GBV, and harmful practices and also inform them of the strategies to combat GBV. 


Dr. Lovees is most passionate about Gender equity, mainstreaming gender in all aspects of life, inclusion, and integrity. He is a believer in a world with equal opportunities, fair distribution as well as access to wealth and health.


This piece is motivated by COMAGEND, a frontliner organisation in the fight against GBV in collaboration with the Cameroon Community Media Network, CCMN as part of activities to mark this year’s 16 days activism against GBV.
