Prof.Enow Tanjong paves Way For The Future Generation Upon retirement

 Early life…..

Born in 1955 in Fotabe,a locality in Manyu Division, South West region of Cameroon, 

Prof . Enow Tanjong childhood days was spent in the village with his parents while schooling at one of the primary schools. Later in  1967, his older  sibling  Hon. Enow Tanjong  brought him out of the village  which gave him the opportunity  to pursue his secondary education in the Saint Joseph’s College SASSE.Upon making both the General Certificate of Education  ordinary Level  in 1972  and moved to CCAST Bambili where he had his Advanced Level in 1974. He was then admitted at the University of Lagos popular called "Unilag "to study Mass Communication.     


Career…..

 His career kicked off  from  when  he returned home from Nigeria on  September 3, 1979; worked for a year and a half, before traveling to the USA for his  Masters and PhD program  precisely in December 1981.After spending  some years out of the country studying, he later came back home as a professor and became a lecturer of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Buea.He was the Pioneer Head Of Department of latter. His years in the classroom, at the Journalism and Mass Communication Department in the University of Buea was filled with so much change such that he was named as “the Pope” by his students and colleagues.He remains the brain behind the establishment of UB’s Journalism and Mass Communication department, which has trained many in the field of journalism and communication over the years in Cameroon. 


Married Life …

Enoh Tanjong is married and a father to four lovely  children and four grandchildren.



Retirement…

Prof Tanjong who was dealing with some health issues suffered from Ischemic Stroke on April 9 2019. However, he later travelled to Nigeria and other destinations to seek  medical attention and reports say he is recovering.

Enoh Tanjong officially retired from duty on October 10, 2020, when he clocked 65 as per requirement  age . He was always celebrated  for how much he enriched his students with practical knowledge some of which  became his  colleagues upon his retirement. Prof.Enow Tanjong was not just  a lecturer but a coach, journalism trainer, Speaker, writer for over 30 years with his hard work and deligence paying off in the lives of his students and the mark he leaves at the Journalism and Mass communi-

cation at the University of Buea.
